PACER Estimating Training

In order to get new templates into your system with the expected updates.

Note: If any aspect of the Unit Assembly has changed...

(e.g. the UA descriptions have changed from coded to English text)

You must force the re-read of the UA to get desired results.

1. Replace Data File (easy, but you lose previous projects)

2. Import Project Templates (UA import, Template Import and replace)

3. Manually change Existing Templates (UA import followed by manual Template update)

1. Replace Data File

Perhaps the easiest way to get your data file updated with the latest information.

- Close PACER.

- Make a backup of your c:\program files\pacer.tds data file for recovery.

- Open PACER.

- Click the Documentation Link on the MAIN screen.

- Go to PACER_User_Information>LatestDataFile folder.

- Copy the PACER33.zip file to your computer.

- Open the PACER33.zip file and copy pacer33.tds to c:\program files\pacer folder.

- Re-enter your company information

2. Import Project Templates

- Open PACER

- Import the Unit Assembly Listing from your Custom Pak.

- Go to PACER_User_Information>ProjectTemplates> folder

- Decide which Templates you wish to use (note the folder names)

- Copy the templates desired to your c:\PACERFiles\PACERExport directory

3. Manually change Existing Templates

- Open PACER

- Likely you will need to import your paint list if new paints exist in UA.

- If changes are made to Rates and Processes, import R&P table from Custom Pak.

- Import the Unit Assembly Listing from your Custom Pak.

- Open each template that uses the imported Unit Assemblies.

- Edit each work area of the template.

- Change each UA so that the CALC button is red. (Don't click CALC button yet.)

- Change each UA back to the original (CALC button is still red).

- Click CALC button...will force a re-read of New Unit Assembly.

- Check the reports to make sure the desired results are achieved.
